The Hong Kong Open is one of Asia’s longest-running professional golf tournaments, first held in 1959 and staged at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, in the New Territories. Played on the club’s tree-lined championship course, the event brings together professional golfers from Hong Kong and around the world to compete for the title. It is an individual stroke-play tournament rather than a team competition: players generally complete four rounds over 72 holes, with a cut after the opening rounds determining who continues into the weekend. The Hong Kong Open has featured champions from the international game, including major winners and leading Asian Tour players, and has formed part of prominent professional golf schedules over its history. Its compact, strategically demanding course rewards accuracy, smart course management and steady putting, making the tournament appealing to both players and spectators. Fans can follow the leaderboard, tee times and player results throughout the event, while visitors to Fanling can watch elite golf in a historic Hong Kong setting. For golf followers searching for tournament dates, past winners, course information and player updates, the Hong Kong Open offers a distinctive annual highlight in Asian sport.
