The Prada Cup is the sailing competition that selects the challenger for the America’s Cup, the sport’s oldest international trophy. Held in Auckland, New Zealand, from January to February 2021, the event featured three teams racing high-performance AC75 foiling monohulls on courses in the Hauraki Gulf. The challengers were Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli from New Zealand3, INEOS Team UK from Britain and American Magic from the United States. Notable sailors included Luna Rossa skipper and helmsman Francesco Bruni, INEOS Team UK skipper Ben Ainslie, and American Magic skipper Terry Hutchinson. After the round-robin and semifinals, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli defeated INEOS Team UK in the final, earning the right to race against Emirates Team New Zealand in the 2021 America’s Cup Match. Unlike a traditional stadium sport, the Prada Cup takes place on open-water sailing courses, with viewing and broadcast coverage bringing spectators close to the action. The competition is known for its advanced yacht design, fast foiling speeds and tactical match racing, making it a major event for fans searching for America’s Cup sailing results, teams and race details.
