The race is staged at Plan de Corones, also known as Kronplatz, above the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe, and is best known for its challenging giant slalom. Rather than a stadium, the venue is a purpose-built mountain course featuring steep sections, changing terrain and a finish area where fans can watch the final runs. Competitors represent national ski teams and include leading World Cup athletes from countries such as Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and the United States. Racers complete two runs, with their times combined to determine the final standings and award World Cup points. The event usually takes place in January as part of the women’s World Cup calendar, although dates can vary by season. Kronplatz skiing attracts spectators for its high-level competition, dramatic alpine setting and strong local support for Italian racers.
