Event of the Day: Milwaukee Brewers versus Los Angeles Dodgers

Our event of the day is the MLB playoff game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the LA Dodgers at Miller Park. This is the sixth game in a potential seven-match series for the National League Championship. The Dodgers currently lead 3-2, so victory today will secure their place in the World Series for a second consecutive year. They succumbed to a 4-3 series defeat last time around, giving the Dodgers an added incentive to go one better this year and win their first World Series title since their famous 1988 triumph. The Dodgers have turned the tie around after a 4-0 defeat in Game 3 on home soil left them trailing 2-1. They recovered, and back to back victories at the Dodgers Stadium has put them one win away from the prestigious World Series. Clayton Kershaw was influential in the Dodgers win on Wednesday. He restricted the Brewers to just one run from seven innings, as the hosts won 5-2 to take the series lead for the first time. They could not have picked a more crucial time to do so. The Brewers will be bitterly disappointed to be trailing, having led the series 1-0 and 2-1.

Although they face an uphill battle to turn the tie around, the Brewers now have the home comforts of Miller Park. Their home record of 51-30 saw them top the NL Central, so a place in the World Series is most definitely still a possibility. This would be their first appearance in the World Series since they fell to defeat in 1982. The Brewers are searching for their maiden World Series title, and despite being 3-2 down, home advantage gives them their best opportunity to make their own little bit of history. With both sides on the brink of baseball's greatest prize, there’s everything to play for.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the European Champions Cup fixture between Leicester Tigers and Scarlets at Welford Road. Both sides will be looking to bounce back from the defeats they suffered last time out. Two-time Champions Cup winners Leicester lost to Ulster, whilst last seasons' semi-finalists Scarlets were beaten by Racing 92. Elsewhere in the UK, two top six sides go head to head at Hillsborough, as Sheffield Wednesday play Middlesbrough in theChampionship. In Ligue 1, Lyon host Nimes, whilst in La Liga, Celta Vigo welcome Deportivo Alavés. Further sporting action in Spain comes from the Valderrama Golf Club, where European Tour golf is taking place. On the ATP and WTA World Tour, the fifth day of the Kremlin Cup gets underway in Moscow. The Washington Capitals welcome the Florida Panthers to the Capital One Arena in the NHL. In New York, two crosstown NBA rivals do battle, as the Brooklyn Nets play the New York Knicks. The fourth day of the Second Test between Pakistan and Australia is on display at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
