Event of the Day: Czech Republic MotoGP

Our event of the day is the Czech Republic MotoGP - since 1930 there has been a great tradition of motorcycle racing in Brno. The “City Circuit” hosted the first Czechoslovakian Grand Prix in 1965 which then moved to the current track in 1987. After a few years without the Grand Prix the event took place once again in 1993 in the Czech Republic. The free practice sessions are over and the qualifying results have placed Andrea Dovizioso in pole position with Valentino Rossi in 2nd and Marc Márquez in 3rd. The track will be dry and hot with temperatures expected to be over 32 degrees Celsius. With 10 races to go in the season the competition is fierce as championship leader Marc Márquez attempts to defend his title at a venue where he finished on top in last years’ race. In second place and 46 points behind is the legendary Valentino Rossi.

39 year old Rossi will try to use his vast experience to out manoeuvre the younger smooth riding Spaniard and add an 8th MotoGP championship to his name. Maverick Viñales on 109 points will look to climb into 2nd place as he is only 10 points behind Rossi. Andrea Dovizioso and Johann Zarco are both on 88 points and will be hoping to get one over on their counterpart. The Czech Republic Grand Prix will certainly be one to watch with the top two racers both attempting to make a big championship move.
