Event of the Day: Boston Celtics versus Philadelphia 76ers

Our event of the day is the NBA clash between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden in Boston. In this game, two of the Eastern Conference’s best teams will go head-to-head as they look to continue their recent impressive form. The 76ers are currently on a two-game winning streak and go into this match with a winning record of 22-12. Meanwhile, the hosts have been impressing at the offensive end of the floor and have scored at least 100 points in each of their last 16 games, giving them a record of 19-13 on the season. The 76ers have generally struggled on their travels this season and have won just 6 out of 15 games on the road. However, they have proven to be one of the best scoring teams this term and have registered an average of 114.6 points per game. At the other end of the floor, they have one of the league’s most aggressive rebounders in Joel Embiid, who averages 13.2 rebounds per game. Philadelphia are looking to secure back-to-back playoff berths for the first time since 2012 and look in great shape to do just that.

Even though the 76ers can boast one of the NBA’s best offences, they will have a tough assignment scoring against the Celtics who give up just 104.8 points per game, only three teams have given up fewer points of average. They also are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the NBA and have one of the league’s best point guards in their ranks in Kyrie Irving who is averaging just over 22 points per game this year. The Celtics will be looking to secure their first NBA Championship since the 2007-08 season and will continue their bid to do just that in tonight’s game against the 76ers. This should be a great Christmas Day game in the NBA.
