Our event of the day is the NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. The NBA teams return to action after an enjoyable All-Star weekend. Golden State with a 44-14 record are eager to get back to the leading position in the Western Conference and the entire league – the place they lost to the Houston Rockets (44-13) following a 123-117 away defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday. The LA Clippers have won five of their last six games to sit just shy of the playoff spots – they currently occupy ninth spot with a 30-26 record. The Clippers ended their mini-tour on the East coast with two victories, against the Brooklyn Nets (114-101) and the Boston Celtics (129-119).
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the Pacific Division rivals this season. The champions won the first two matches in Los Angeles before losing unexpectedly 125-106 as hosts in January. The Warriors’ star players will team up again after playing on different sides in the All-Star game. Point guard Stephen Curry leads the team with 26.6 points per game, fourth best in the league; while small forward Kevin Durant averages 26 points per game, for seventh best in the league. Shooting guard Klay Thompson has made 184 three-pointers so far this season with the league’s best three-point accuracy of 45.4%. Clippers’ center DeAndre Jordan dominates the paint and is second in the league with both: 15 rebounds per game and field goal percentage of 65.2%. It should be a thrilling matchup at the Oracle Arena.
