Event of the Day: Crystal Palace versus Manchester United

Our event of the day is the Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester United at Selhurst Park in London. To close out the Premier League weekend’s set of fixtures, Jose Mourinho and his team visit Crystal Palace, desperate to pick up the three points in order to move above Liverpool in the table. Following on from an important victory against Chelsea last Sunday, United hope to keep the momentum up against Palace, before big games against Liverpool, Sevilla and Brighton in three seperate competitions.

Sitting in eighteenth place in the table, Crystal Palace suffered a last minute defeat to Tottenham last time out but are fighting extremely hard to avoid relegation. Both teams are missing important players for the match; amongst United’s missing are Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini. Crystal Palace are missing Yohan Cabaye, Wilfried Zaha, Bakary Sako, Ruben Loftus-Cheek  and Scott Dann. The Eagles haven’t won any of their 17 meetings in the Premier League with Manchester United, the last Crystal Palace victory against them was a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park in May 1991. What will happen tonight?

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the NBA game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indiana. The Pacers sit fourth in the Eastern Conference whereas the Bucks are in seventh. In the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins face off with the Calgary Flames at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. In the Primeira Liga, Desportivo das Aves host Portimonense at Estádio do Clube Desportivo das Aves. In the La Liga, Celta Vigo take on Las Palmas at Balaídos in Vigo. It’s the final day in the first test match between South Africa and Australia at Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
