Our event of the day

is the UEFA Champions League Group H fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium, London.

The two teams are looking strong favourites to progress to the group stages, sharing an identical record of 7 points from their opening 3 games with an identical goal difference. This is particularly impressive from Spurs considering Real Madrid are the defending champions and widely regarded as one of, if not the best team in Europe.

An intimidating atmosphere will greet the Spanish champions in London tonight and it is likely to be a thrilling game of football. When the two sides met just over a fortnight ago the result was seen as Tottenham finally making the step up to the highest level where they can compete with the biggest names on the European stage. The combative display was testament to the quality and mental strength of this Tottenham side. Tonight, they will look to take the game to Real more, with home advantage and wanting to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend. If striker Harry Kane is fit it will drastically improve their chances of getting something from tonight – either way it should be a close game full of quality.
