Event of the Day: Washington Capitals v Los Angeles Kings

Our event of the day
is the National Hockey League fixture between the Washington Capitals and the Los Angeles Kings at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. The hosts are fourth in the Metropolitan Division but there are only five points separating first and sixth place in the table. After winning the last three games and beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 in their last game, thanks mainly to Alex Ovechkin’s three goals, the Capitals will be looking to move up the divisional table.
The Kings are flying in the Pacific Division and currently occupy second place level on points with the Vegas Golden Knights. The team is in good form with an outstanding last game against the Detroit Red Wings winning 4-1, with center Anze Kopitar having a great game with two goals and an assist. The Kings will be desperate to win tonight to keep pressure on the team from Las Vegas, for top spot in the division. It’s all set-up to be an entertaining encounter between the Capitals and the Kings in the NHL.

Honourable mentions
around the globe go the NBA match between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers at the TD Garden in Boston. The Celtics are in terrific form in the Eastern Conference and they are at the top of the table with four more wins than the Detroit Pistons, who are second, and also four more wins more than LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in third. The 76ers have some catching up to do as they are hoping to break into the playoffs for the first time in six years. Funnily enough, it was the Celtics that knocked them out of the playoffs in 2012 at the conference semi-final stage. It is the start of the Mauritius Open on the European Tour as well as the first day of the Australian PGA Championship. There’s even more golf action with the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. There is one NFL game for you to enjoy as the Dallas Cowboys face the Washington Redskins, both sides needing a win to stay in the mix for a potential wildcard spot. The MLS Cup Conference Finals conclude as the Seattle Sounders are looking to complete the job over the Houston Dynamo after beating them 2-0 in the first-leg. In Rugby, the Women’s Rugby World Sevens begins today in Dubai.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
