Event of the Day: Golden State Warriors versus Boston Celtics

Our event of the day is the NBA duel between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. The Warriors lead the Western Conference and the entire league with a 39-10 record, while the Celtics are top of the Eastern Conference with a 35-14 record. Golden State have won six of their last seven games and this is their third home match in a row, following victories over the New York Knicks (123-112on Tuesday) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (126-113 on Thursday).
After seven straight wins, Boston lost some ground when they suffered four defeats in a row, but they got back to winning ways on Wednesday with a strong victory away at the Los Angeles Clippers (113-102). The Celtics won the first match of the season of the two sides; it was 92-88 in Boston in November. For the Warriors, point guard Stephen Curry is scoring 27.5 points per game on average; while power forward Draymond Green is recording 7.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game on average. Shooting guard Klay Thompson has made the second most three-pointers in the league with 161. Celtics’ point guard Kyrie Irving is averaging 24.5 points per game, whilst center Al Horford leads the team on rebounds (7.8) and assists (5.3). We’re in for a thrilling game between the respective Conference leaders at the Oracle Arena.
 
Honourable mentions around the globe go to Day 13 of the 2018 Australian Open at Melbourne Park. In the final of the women’s singles, Simona Halep from Romania and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark will fight for their first Grand Slam trophy as well as the number one spot in the WTA rankings, currently held by Halep. It’s Day 3 of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai; and third day of the Farmers Insurance Open at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. The last two matches of the Big Bash League bring the match between the Melbourne Stars and the Hobart Hurricanes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the clash between the Brisbane Heat and the Melbourne Renegades at the Gabba in Brisbane. It’s Day 4 of the 3rd Test of the Freedom Trophy between South Africa and India at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka play the final of the Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. It’s the second day of the World Rugby Seven Series tournament at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney. In La Liga, Valencia host Real Madrid at the Mestalla in Valencia.
