Our event of the day...
is the MLB American League Championship Series match between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros at Yankee Stadium in New York. The Astros lead the best-of-seven series 2-0 after two very close 2-1 wins at Minute Maid Park over the last couple of days ago. This means that the Astros are only two wins away from booking their place in this year’s World Series as American League Champions. The Yankees – one of this year’s wildcards – will be desperate to use home advantage to get off the mark in this series. As the World Series gets ever closer each game becomes more crucial and today’s game will go a long way to deciding who will be taking part in this season’s finale.
It should be an entertaining day of baseball. One of the standout performers last time out came from Astros pitcher Justin Verlander after the 34-year-old struck out thirteen Yankees in the 2-1 win. With performances like this, the series lead and having finished the regular season top of the West division, Houston are in a strong position and will be confident of moving the series even further out of the reach of New York. However, at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, the Yankees will back themselves to claw back some ground in this finely-poised series.
around the globe go to the NFL fixture between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The Colts have won the last eleven games between the two sides, running out 24-17 winners last November.
Tampa Bay Lightning travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena in the NHL. The Men’s Hockey Asia Cup continues in Dhaka, Bangladesh as Malaysia take on Oman and China face South Korea and in Mexico City the World Archery Championships get underway. Leicester host West Bromwich Albion at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League's evening fixture.
Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
