Event of the Day: Genesis Open Day 3

Our event of the day is the third day of the Genesis Open at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. The tournament host is the Tiger Woods Foundation - the foundation established in 1996 by the winner of 14 major championships and his father Earl. Woods however unfortunately missed the cut in his second PGA Tour event after his comeback from injury. He has in fact never won at the course in 12 attempts (his most starts at a PGA Tour venue without a win) and his best finish was as runner-up in 1998 and 1999.
The event is the concluding event of the PGA Tour’s ‘West Coast Swing’ section of the yearly calendar before the tour moves east to Florida. After two rounds, World number one and last season’s winner Dustin Johnson has been struggling so far and is currently one over par and in joint 52nd place; far behind the leaders; Patrick Cantlay, Graeme McDowell and Sam Saunders, who are on seven under par. Other names in the mix include Tony Finau on five under, two-time winner Bubba Watson (2014 and 2016) on four below par and 2017 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas along with Rory McIlroy on two under. The fans will also continue to enjoy the play of previous champions of the tournament – Phil Mickelson (winner of back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009) and Adam Scott (2005). It’s shoud to be a spectacular third round at the Riviera Country Club.

It’s the sixth day of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at the Ahoy Roterdam in Roterdam; as well as the sixth day of the Qatar Total Open in Doha.
