Event of the Day: Milwaukee Bucks versus Philadelphia 76ers

Our event of the day is the NBA game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. These sides currently occupy playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee is sixth with a 26-22 record, while Philadelphia sit behind them, in eighth place, with a 24-22 record. The Bucks have won their last three games, their latest victory, 110-96, away against the Chicago Bulls last night. The 76ers have won five of their previous seven encounters, but lost a tough game, 122-112, against the Oklahoma City Thunder last night.

These two Eastern Conference rivals have met once already this season, the Sixers were convincing 116-94 winners at home in Philadelphia just over a week ago. This is going to be a big duel between two of the young stars of the NBA. Twenty-three year old Bucks’ forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the league’s second best scorer with 28.4 points per game, while he also records 10.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists – leading his team in all three categories. Philadelphia’s 23-year old center Joel Embiid averages 23.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game on average. Bucks’ power forward Mirza Teletović is out indefinitely due to a blockage in his lungs, while the 76ers will be without the 1st pick of the 2017 draft Markelle Fultz due to a shoulder injury. It should be an exciting fixture between two evenly matched sides at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the first day of the St. Petersburg Ladies’ Trophy at the Sibur Arena at the Dynamo Tennis Club in Saint Petersburg. The number one seed is the newly crowned Australian Open champion and world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. The first match in the main draw sees German Mona Barthel take on Alizé Cornet from France. Also in the NBA, the Denver Nuggets host the Boston Celtics at the Pepsi Center in Denver, while the Memphis Grizzlies face the Phoenix Suns at the FedExForum in Memphis. In La Liga, Celta Vigo play against Real Betis at the Balaídos in Vigo. In the Primeira, Belenenses clash with Benfica at the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon; while Portimonense come up against Rio Ave at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão in Portimão.
