Our event of the day...
is the NFL fixture between the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey. The Lions beat the Arizona Cardinals 35-23 last time out at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan with Kenny Golladay taking a standout 45-yard catch to score a touchdown for the Lions. Meanwhile the Giants had a less successful start to their season with a 19-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. We’re poised for a gripping day of NFL action.
Today’s teams have had contrasting success over the years. While the Giants have won the Super Bowl four times (most recently in 2012), the Lions have never made a Super Bowl appearance, although they did win the NFL Championship in 1957. In more recent years, the two teams have a fairly even record in head to heads. The Giants won the last encounter 17-6 in December 2016, whereas the Lions ran out 35-14 winners back in September 2014. For today's game, the fitness of star New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is likely to have a big impact on the result - simply put, if he is fit the Giants have a much better chance of victory. We are set for a thrilling edition of Monday Night Football.
