Our event of the day
is the Rugby League World Cup
Final between Australia and England at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The odds are against England to come away from Australia with the Rugby League World Cup trophy against the heavy favourites, in their own country. However, the English believe they have the upset in them, led by star man Sam Burgess who will captain the side after Sean O’Loughlin has been ruled out with injury.
The English will be coming up against the current top player in rugby league as they face Cameron Smith, who won the 2017 Golden Boot, which is awarded to the best player across the globe. He will be looking to inspire his nation to another World Cup triumph after he played a vital role in their last win in 2013. The Melbourne Storm hooker will be leading out the home nation in Saturday’s final and will be supported by his Storm team-mates, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk in the side. The three players work almost telepathically for both club, state (Queensland) and country and will be expecting to add another Rugby League World Cup winners’ medal to each of their collections of honours. England will certainly be up against it on the other side of the world but will they use that underdog status to their advantage?
around the globe to the eight Premier League
games and in particular, the match between Manchester United and Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the late kick-off. The Gunners are currently 4th in the table and in great form after their 5-0 win over Huddersfield while their opponents are 2nd and in decent form themselves as they beat Watford 4-2 in midweek. It’s the first day of the second test in the Ashes
as Australia look to build on their first test win over England. There’s plenty of rugby union action with Wales up against South Africa in the Autumn Internationals
as well as Aviva Premiership Rugby
with the Leicester Tigers travelling to Coventry to face Wasps and it’s the second day of the Men’s World Rugby Sevens
. There’s more international cricket with New Zealand playing against West Indies and India taking on Sri Lanka. In golf, there is the Mauritius Open
, the Australian PGA Championship
and the Hero World Challenge
. There is exciting NBA
action with the Portland Trail Blazers and the New Orleans Pelicans doing battle in basketball while the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals are up against each other in the National Hockey League.
What you’re watching, enjoy!
