Event of the Day

Our event of the day is Day 10 of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Highlights today include the bobsleigh, where it is the final two rounds of the men’s two man at the Olympic Sliding Centre. Two records were broken yesterday, recent World Cup winners Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis of Germany, achieved a new start record of 4.85 and Oskars Melbardis and Janis Strenga of Latvia, set a new track record with 49.08.

In ski jumping, it is the men’s first and final team round with Switzerland, Germany, Finland and Austria among the strongest ski jumping nations. However, it is worth keeping an eye on Poland with Kamil Stoch the 2018 Olympic ski jumping Individual Gold medal winner and World Cup winner, in their team. He is the second athlete in history, after Sven Hannawald, to win the grand slam of all four events in a single Four Hills Tournament. Medals will be won in the men’s 500m speed skating final at the Gangneung Oval, which should be thrilling. There is excitement for the semi-finals of the women’s ice hockey, with matches between Finland and United States as well as Canada and the Olympic Athletes from Russia. It is set-up to be a spectacular day at the 2018 Olympic Games.

Honourable mentions around the globe go to the FA Cup clash between Wigan Athletic and Manchester City at the DW Stadium in Wigan.
