Event of the day

Our event of the day
is the NFL game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. The Seahawks are currently 2nd in the NFC West division behind the Los Angeles Rams while their opponents are 3rd in the NFC South division. The sides have each had a stop-start season but both won last time out - the Seahawks came out 22-16 winners over the Arizona Cardinals and the Falcons eased past the Dallas Cowboys 27-7. In their win over the Cardinals, unfortunately the Seahawks finished with several players who couldn’t finish the game so they are far from full-strength heading into this important fixture. Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman, both multiple Pro Bowl attendees, aren’t available for the match which will make the Seahawks’ secondary considerable weaker. They could go to the top of the NFC West if they win as they hold the tiebreaker over the Rams.
The Falcons have struggled this season and even a win will see them remain in third in the NFC South behind the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. Like their opponents, they also have injury problems with one of their key players, Devonta Freeman, ruled out through concussion. If they had full-strength squad for todays’ match, the Seattle Seahawks would be favourites to win at home but due to all their injury worries, they may find it very hard to pick up the win they need. With both teams desperate for a victory to keep their post-season aspirations strongly alive we should be in store for a thrilling game.

Honourable mentions
around the globe go to the clash between Brighton and Stoke City in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium in Brighton. The visitors look to move into the top half of the table with the hosts already in 9th place. Stoke have struggled with just three wins from 11 games while Brighton sit on 15 points after their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship in the summer. There’s a few games in the other big European leagues as Eibar host Real Betis in La Liga, Lille travel to Amiens in Ligue 1 in a relegation battle and Verona and Bologna face-off in Serie A. There are plenty of games to enjoy in the NBA on Monday and the pick of the bunch sees the New York Knicks play host to the Los Angeles Clippers. In the NHL, the biggest fixture sees the Anaheim Ducks take on the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center, the home of the Sharks.

Whatever you’re watching, enjoy!
